Santo grew up in rural Missouri the son of freethinking artists. His introduction to the art of glass came to him on a trip to Japan in 2002 when he visited Tobe, a ceramic sculpture artist community. It was there he saw glass sculptures for the first time. When he returned to the US he invested in a glass blowing kit and found a teacher in Lawrence Kansas, Christopher (Cowboy) Kerner.
He spent a year apprenticing with Cowboy, and developed a close knit group of glass artist friends.
Santo currently lives in Santa Rosa California with his wife and Dog. He is devoted to the art of Borosilicate glass and continues to work with and learn from other artists and friends.
